Restore the Earth with NYRP: A Green Auction to Celebrate Earth Day
Earth Day just got more exciting in New York. The New York Restoration Project (NYRP) teamed up with online auction site Charitybuzz to host the Restore New York City, Restore the Earth Auction. It’s a fundraiser with heart—and a purpose.
Bid for a Cause
The auction, open until May 5, invites bidders to compete for uniquely memorable experiences that benefit the planet. Highlights include a chance to spend the day with NYRP’s founder, Bette Midler, or to be the muse for an original painting by acclaimed artist Ryan Paul Simmons.
Live Moments with Big Names
The line-up extends beyond the green sphere. You might win four tickets to a live taping of Iron Chef America, complete with a backstage tour—airfare by JetBlue included. Or perhaps score a walk-on role in Broadway’s Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, plus orchestra seats and a backstage backstage refreshment break (JetBlue takes care of travel, too).
Luxury and Learning
For sports fans, there’s a package offering Legend Suite tickets for a Yankees vs. Red Sox showdown at Yankee Stadium, again with JetBlue airfare thrown in. And for aspiring creatives, opportunities include internships—one week at Cosmopolitan, two at Redbook, and two more at Studios Architecture. There’s also a chance to enjoy a New York power lunch with Marie Claire’s Fashion Director Nina Garcia and Editor-in-Chief Joanna Coles.

Green Roots, Bold Goals
As Coppy Holzman, Charitybuzz CEO, put it: “We are thrilled to partner with one of New York City’s most respected green charities, NYRP. The funds raised will help fulfill the mission to plant and care for one million trees across the five boroughs by 2017.”
Indeed, NYRP already leads the MillionTreesNYC initiative, supporting parks, community gardens, and open spaces across the city. This auction is another powerful way to drive that mission forward.
New York Restoration Project: A Celebration with Purpose
This isn’t just another charity auction. Instead, it stands as a bold mix of culture, creativity, and green action. Every experience on the block—whether it’s art, live television, or a power lunch—carries a deeper meaning. Each bid fuels the mission of creating a tree-filled, healthier New York.
Moreover, the event connects entertainment with environmental responsibility. It proves that supporting sustainability does not need to be dull. Rather, it can be exciting, glamorous, and inspiring. From Broadway lights to baseball games, bidders enjoy unforgettable opportunities while investing in the planet’s future.
At the same time, the auction highlights the power of individual choices. One bid funds tree planting. One experience supports greener communities. And one moment shared in this celebration ripples outward, proving that sustainability thrives when people come together.
Therefore, on Earth Day, New Yorkers do more than honor the planet. They commit to restoring it. They
For they:
- plant not only trees but also ideas
- nurture not only gardens but also a vision.
- ultimately prove that the future of the city is greener, brighter, and full of possibility—one unforgettable experience at a time.
