Japanese driver Ikuo Hanawa piloted the EV Buggy Sports Concept HER-02 buggy up the mountain. The vehicle, powered by a Sanyo battery and an AC Propulsion motor. For it also demonstrated that electric vehicles could compete fiercely in demanding races. Hanawa’s previous attempt had him finish second in his class, narrowly missing the EV world record by 13 seconds.
