Opposing Clean Air Protections, Industry Lobbyists Misrepresent When Updated Standards Must Be Met

NRDC: (John Walke)
Industry lobbyists are cynically exploiting anxieties over current economic conditions to oppose Americans’ right to be protected against unhealthy smog pollution. Because they don’t have the facts or science or law on their side, these lobbyists have been reduced to misrepresenting the way the Clean Air Act works and its extended timelines for reducing pollution.
The truth is that polluting industries will have many years to reduce harmful smog pollution, well past the current period of economic challenge. Strengthening smog standards will benefit Americans and the economy, by saving thousands of lives, avoiding hundreds of thousands of illnesses and countless days missed from work and school.

SPI Solar to Serve as Developer of a 4.4 Megawatt Utility-Scale Solar Energy Facility in Greece

SPI Solar (“SPI”) a leading vertically integrated photovoltaic (“PV”) solar developer and engineering, procurement and construction (“EPC”) services provider, announced today that it has successfully completed the acquisition of the necessary contracts and permits to serve as developer of a 4.4 megawatt fixed-ground-mount solar energy facility (SEF) which will be located in Evros, a North Eastern region of Greece. SPI became the developer of record for the project by acquiring a 100% limited partnership interest in the project, which was already in early-phase planning with another entity. The SEF will be a fixed-tilt ground-mount utility-scale facility (on approximately 25 acres) selling power to the Greek Public Power Corporation (“PPC”) through a 20-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA).
Prior to executing the agreements, SPI worked with Global Energy Services (“GES”) to identify the build-ready project, and with SDL Solar to perform on-site technical due diligence and qualify the project for development. GES will work closely with SPI to also provide project oversight during the construction of the SEF. Additionally, SPI intends to perform operations and maintenance of the completed facility over the term of the PPA. SPI’s proprietary monitoring application, Solar PowerViewTM will be used to monitor the system and ensure optimal system performance and energy production. The SEF will use LDK’s high-performance solar modules.

PV Watts Program Gets You Solar Power For Your Home

NREL’s PVWattsTM calculator determines the energy production and cost savings of grid-connected photovoltaic (PV) energy systems throughout the world. It allows homeowners, installers, manufacturers, and researchers to easily develop estimates of the performance of hypothetical PV installations.
The PVWatts calculator works by creating hour-by-hour performance simulations that provide estimated monthly and annual energy production in kilowatts and energy value. Users can select a location and choose to use default values or their own system parameters for size, electric cost, array type, tilt angle, and azimuth angle. In addition, the PVWatts calculator can provide hourly performance data for the selected location.
