SPI Solar Acquires Italian EPC Contractor Solar Green Technologies

Acquisition Immediately Adds 20MW in EPC Revenue through Existing Contracts in Italian Rooftop Solar Market
Roseville, CA, June 28, 2012— SPI Solar (“SPI”) (SOPW:OTCBB), a leading solar developer, today announced that it has acquired 100% of the outstanding shares of Italy-based Solar Green Technologies (“SGT”) from LDK Solar Europe Holdings S.A., a wholly owned subsidiary of LDK Solar Co., Ltd. (“LDK”), and the two founders of SGT for approximately €5 million, primarily comprised of approximately 13,400,533 shares of SPI common stock valued at approximately $0.45 per share, plus approximately $250,000 of cash to the two founders of SGT. SPI believes this acquisition will be financially accretive as SGT’s current book of business and pipeline of projects are currently expected to generate immediate revenue and earnings for SPI both near term and on an ongoing basis. SGT’s current booked pipeline consists of 20MW of rooftop solar installations for the Century program serving as EPC provider for approximately 33 distributed generation systems as well as Epicuro Fund’s 25MW project pipeline for another 30-40 systems.

WWF unveils new investment model to recover marine ecosystems

Gland, Switzerland: Twenty years after a moratorium was imposed on Canada’s northern cod
fishery off Newfoundland’s coast, WWF introduces an innovative model designed to help finance
the recovery and future sustainability of fisheries.
WWF recently published Raising the “Sunken Billions”: Financing the transition to sustainable
fisheries in Marine Policy detailing the establishment of a Financial Institution for the Recovery of
Marine Ecosystems (FIRME) as a full-scale solution that finances conservation without adversely
impacting livelihoods.
“By providing loans to cover the upfront costs of conservation the FIRME will allow stocks to recover and ultimately generate profits exceeding the original investment,” explained Dr. Robert Rangeley, co-author and Vice President, WWF-Canada.

Progress Update Regarding Keystone XL Pipeline

How is the Keystone XL Pipeline Progressing?
Four and a half years of studies and five failed votes in the House later, exactly where are we with the Keystone XL pipeline? Stuck on the US-Canadian border where it is likely to remain until mid-2013 despite the headline-grabbing issuance of one of three permits to begin construction in Texas for the smaller and much less controversial portion of the pipeline.
On 26 June, the US Army Corps of Engineers granted TransCanada Corp one of three permits required in order to begin construction on the $2.3 billion southern section of the Keystone XL pipeline, which would run from Cushing, Oklahoma to the Gulf of Mexico in Texas. This first in the permit series covers construction across the wetlands and waterways of Texas’ Galveston district. TransCanada still needs to more permits from Tulsa, Oklahoma and Forth Worth, Texas, to complete this southern Gulf portion of the pipeline extension. Tulsa is set to rule on the second permit in a month and a half.
This southern section of the extended pipeline will carry 700,000 barrels a day of crude, to start with, to Texas refineries from Cushing. Construction will begin this summer. The southern line, permits pending, could be functional by mid-to-late next year. Indeed, Obama pledged to speed up the approval process to make this a reality.

Southern States Manufacturing EV for Local Markets

Former President Bill Clinton and former Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour participate in event revealing affordable, environmentally friendly MyCar
(HORN LAKE, MISS.) – July 6, 2012 – GreenTech Automotive (GTA), a U.S.-based manufacturer of environmentally friendly, energy-efficient vehicles, today unveiled its revolutionary MyCar, a two-seat all-electric vehicle that produces zero emissions and provides a range of up to 115 miles. Former President Bill Clinton and former Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour attended the unveiling, which also celebrated GTA’s relocation to the United States, where the company expects to create 426 new manufacturing jobs and support 7,400 more.
“Too many people have given up on American manufacturing, saying manufacturing jobs are not coming back. But GTA set out to prove them wrong,” said Terry McAuliffe, chairman of GreenTech. “For too long, America has been inventing products here and sending the production jobs overseas. But we’re part of a rebirth for American manufacturing. We’re proud to bring manufacturing jobs back and prove that the U.S. is still the world leader in technological innovation and manufacturing.”
