Zubi Advertising Goes Green—Miami Style
A Bold Environmental Statement
Zubi Advertising Services, one of the nation’s top Hispanic agencies, didn’t just talk about sustainability—it built it into the heart of its operations. In 2012, the agency celebrated the opening of its environmentally friendly headquarters in Coral Gables, Florida. This bold move made Zubi one of the first ad firms in the region to pursue a LEED® (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification.
Smart Design with a Purpose
From day one, the building’s design reflected a serious commitment to going green. Zubi installed high-efficiency HVAC systems, LED lighting, and low-flow plumbing fixtures. In addition, the headquarters used recycled building materials, water-conserving landscaping, and motion-sensor lighting throughout.

Culture Meets Sustainability
Even more importantly, the space reflected Zubi’s Cuban-American heritage and Miami roots. Colorful, modern, and smart—it blended eco-conscious technology with vibrant design. Tropical plants, local art, and sustainable materials created a space that was both culturally rich and environmentally sound.
Leadership in Action
President and CEO Joe Zubizarreta emphasized that the project wasn’t just about image. “This building represents who we are and what we stand for,” he said. “We want to lead by example—doing what’s right for the environment and our community.”
Employee-Driven Innovation
Employees played a key role in the transformation. The company launched internal sustainability campaigns and encouraged low-impact commuting. Bike racks, public transit incentives, and recycling stations reinforced a green workplace culture that extended beyond the walls.
Industry Inspiration
Zubi’s green headquarters sent a strong message to the advertising world: creative agencies can go sustainable without sacrificing style or function. While many businesses focused only on digital transformation, Zubi expanded the conversation to include environmental responsibility—especially within the fast-paced, high-impact media sector.
A Model for the Future
As Miami continues to face sea-level rise and extreme heat, Zubi’s forward-thinking design proves that local businesses can make a real impact. This isn’t just about saving energy. It’s about resilience. It’s about creating a legacy of leadership that puts people and planet first.
