Pro Wind Power Veterans Requesting Extending Production Tax Credit

WASHINGTON, D.C., November 28, 2012 –The American Wind Energy Association joined forces with Operation Free at a bipartisan, bicameral press conference with Sen. Mark Udall (D-Colo.), Sen. Charles Grassley (R-Iowa), Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa), Rep. Jerry McNerney (D-Calif.), and veterans from around the country to call on Congress to extend the renewable energy Production Tax Credit (PTC).
Thousands of veterans from across the country have signed a petition to Congress urging an immediate extension of the PTC. Over 400 of the veteran signatories are currently employed in the U.S. wind industry.

Tests Look Good Cooking Sunflair Solar Oven

This summer a company by the name of Sunflair contacted me about their solar oven. I’m always game to test a product and with this summer in NY. Sure.
I tested their sunflair oven, grill and pots / pans to boot.
Surprisingly it works folks. Not as quick as a conventional oven but it works. Think in hours not minutes and you’ll be fine. Just plop in front of sun after zipping up the BPA free plastic helping to close in the heat.

US Power Grid Vulnerable to Just About Everything

As Washington hunts ill-defined al-Qaeda groups in the Middle East and Africa, and concerns itself with Iran’s eventual nuclear potential, it has a much more pressing problem at home: Its energy grid is vulnerable to anyone with basic weapons and know-how.
Forget about cyber warfare and highly organized terrorist attacks, a lack of basic physical security on the US power grid means that anyone with a gun—like disgruntled Michigan Militia types, for instance—could do serious damage.
For the past two months, the US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) has been tasked with creating a security strategy for the electric grid and hydrocarbon facilities through its newly created Office of Energy Infrastructure Security. So far, it’s not good news.
