Every year, hundreds of enterprising individuals will take on the challenge of converting small cars, trucks, even motorcycles to run on electric motors. EV World Review of Build Your Own Electric Vehicle

Ok, this is an older story from Bill Moore over at the EV World but it is worth sharing:
Respected publishing giant McGraw Hill first published Bob Brant’s tome, Build Your Own Electric Vehicle in 1994. Much to their amazement, it continued to sell year after year, not large numbers, but sufficientto keep it in print.
However, it also became increasingly outdated, so nearly 15 years after they first released the book, McGraw Hill decided to update it. Sadly, Brant had died, so they needed to find someone else to author the revised edition and here they turned to Seth Leitman, a close relation of famed humorist Art Buchwald, to take on the task.

We know Minnesotans are hardy stock, but will their electric cars match their owners’ mettle? That’s one of the things being tested by the City of St. Paul and Drive Electric Minnesota, a collaboration of businesses, nonprofits and government agencies in the Twin Cities. They’ve teamed up to build an EV
infrastructure and put the new cars and vans through their paces in Minnesota’s harsh climate. (O.K., harsh by my standards, but I’ve become a weather wimp.)

So, You Want An Electric Car? by Bill Moore

An EV World reader emailed me earlier this week and asked me what is going to become a more frequently asked question: “What do I need to know before I hire someone to install a home charger? ”
Starting this weekend with the first delivery of a Nissan LEAF to a customer in Northern California, we can expect to have upwards of 20,000 families asking that question in 2011 as they start to take delivery of the first 10,000 Chevrolet Volt electric hybrids and a comparable number of all-electric LEAFs, for starters. By 2012, we’ll start seeing some really exciting numbers from both GM and Nissan, as well as other entrants like Fisker, Think, and Coda, along with Toyota. By 2013, the numbers will be reaching in the hundreds of thousands… at least we hope they do. (I am keeping my fingers crossed).
There are going to be LOTS of folks asking this same question; and the answer starts with a very basic question in return: Where do you plan to charge the vehicle?

Bridjit Curb Ramp: The Solution to Driveway Bumps

Some companies talk about their “green” efforts, but Bridjit Inc. demonstrates its commitment to the environment by the way its product is made. Bridjit manufactures the Bridjit Curb Ramp driveway entry replacement solution by utilizing crumb rubber sourced from recycled tires. It is estimated that there are at least 275 million scrap tires stockpiled in the U.S.
“Each Bridjit rubber curb ramp set represents 12 passenger tires that were recycled,” says Bridjit president John Curry. “Bridjit is proud to help reduce this environmental problem and lead our country’s sustainability efforts.”
