UNICEF and Do The Green Thing launch ‘Climate Kid’ campaign

This month, UNICEF UK and the award-winning environmental non-profit Do The Green Thing launch an innovative new video campaign called ‘Climate Kid’, which uses a ninety second animated video to illustrate how we can help reduce the impacts of climate change on children. It’s an inspiring, funny story to show that everyone has a positive role to play in tackling climate change.
Do The Green Thing is an award-winning environmental non-profit that creates an inspiration feed of ideas, campaigns and products to turn green living from something you ought to do to something that people want to do. Do The Green Thing uses great creativity to reframe sustainability as smart, sexy, fashionable and fun and something worthwhile on its own terms.

It’s always great to work with The Daily Green since their articles get into Yahoo Green. My book Do-It-Yourself Home Energy Audits made it into both publications.
More and more people are choosing to spend a few hundred dollars to hire a professional energy auditor to conduct a thorough inspection of their home’s energy efficiency. Then, the auditor recommends steps for improvement, which will provide financial savings and possibly health benefits.

Spring is a good time to look at how “green” your home is. Below are 5 easy tips to “green” your home. I’ve learned so much by representing 4114 New Hampshire Ave NW (www.petworthgreenbuilding.com) and I’m thrilled to share.
1. Reduce energy – insulate your attic! If you do nothing else, please be sure you have a significant amount of insulation in your attic. More heat (and cool in the summer) is lost through the attic than anywhere else in the house. Most homes I see in DC have no insulation in the attic whatsoever. You can either use a spray foam product like was used at 4114 New Hampshire, or even the traditional batting insulation. If you do it yourself it will only cost a couple hundred dollars and save you many hundreds over the course of a couple years.
