When Comstock Homes made plans to build the largest solar powered community in the United States they chose SunPower. SunPower cells have been used for everything from powering solar racecars to turning the propellers on the world’s first solar powered plane.
“After we did a little research it was pretty evident that we would be using SunPower roof tiles for the Villages at Heritage Springs,” said Bob Comstock, CEO of Comstock Homes. “We wanted a system that worked and would provide years of dependable energy savings for our homeowners.”
All 384 single-family homes at the Villages at Heritage Springs will be built with SunPower’s SunTiles. In addition to solar power these homes will utilize the latest in energy efficient building techniques and appliances meaning homeowners can expect energy bills that are as much as 60 per cent less than a comparable size home without these features.
SunPower’s experience has allowed them to create solar roof panels that are twice as efficient as any other on the market. This means its SunTiles produce more power per square foot requiring less roof space than other systems. These panels are smooth and dark with no metal grid lines so they not only perform better, they also look better blending in harmoniously with the roof. Their performance is backed by a 25-year warranty guaranteeing exceptional system performance.
“The homes in the Villages at Heritage Springs are a testament to what can be done by incorporating energy efficiency and solar power into home design,” added Comstock. “Most people would not even notice the solar panels, double paned glass and other energy saving features. They just look at them and say, ‘That’s a great looking house,’ but when they sit down to pay their energy bills that’s when they will realize that they are living in a very unique home.”
