Breaking the Mold: Green Building Innovations Beyond the Basics I’m absolutely thrilled about the remarkable green building innovations happening in sustainable construction right now! While

Canada’s Environment Minister, the Honourable Peter Kent, today announced that the Government is moving ahead with the 2 percent renewable content requirement in diesel fuel and heating oil.
“Our Government will continue to ensure that protecting our environment, while balancing economic growth and prosperity remains our priority”, said Minister Kent. “The steps we are taking on renewable fuels, combined with those of the provinces, will ensure a volume of renewable fuel that will reduce annual greenhouse gas emissions by about four megatonnes a year—the equivalent of removing one million vehicles from the road.”
“This requirement will further strengthen the market for renewable fuels, which is good news for our farmers and the environment,” said the Honorable Gerry Ritz, Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food and Minister for the Canadian Wheat Board. “Increased demand for feed stocks like canola will ensure an even stronger bottom line for farmers and a stronger agricultural sector.”
The regulatory amendment to the Renewable Fuels Regulations will be published in the Canada Gazette, Part II, in the coming weeks. The coming-into-force date for the requirement is July 1, 2011. A non official, pre-published version of the regulations is available at http://www.ec.gc.ca/energie-energy/default.asp?lang=En&n=0AA71ED2-1.
Toyota Motor Sales, USA, Inc. (TMS), today announced that it will conduct a voluntary safety recall involving approximately 45,500 Highlander Hybrid and 36,700 Lexus RX 400h vehicles sold in the U.S. No other Toyota or Lexus vehicles are involved.
The Intelligent Power Module (IPM) located inside the Hybrid System Inverter contains a control board with transistors. Certain transistors on the control boards in some of the subject vehicles were inadequately soldered and could be damaged from heat caused by a large current flow during high-load driving.
If this were to occur, various warning lamps will illuminate on the instrument panel. In most cases the vehicle will enter a fail-safe driving mode, resulting in reduced power in which the vehicle can still be driven for short distances. In limited instances, the power supply circuit fuse could blow when the transistor is damaged. If the fuse blows, the hybrid system will stop and the vehicle will coast to a stop.
Recently, I attended a business seminar in Concord NH at the Grappone Conference Center. To my surprise – when I stepped outside, I saw this charging station at the adjacent Marriott. I was surprised! This is the only public charging station in NH!
