GE Energy Distillery gets Scottish Green Biogas-Powered

The collaboration between William Grant & Sons and GE Energy has resulted in the installation of a fourth Jenbacher gas engine at the Girvan Distillery.  For that’s the home of Grant’s Scotch whiskey and Hendrick’s Gin. This Ecomagination-qualified Jenbacher J620 gas engine generates 3 megawatts of additional power.  All the while reusing CO2 that is normally emitted as waste.  Especially during the manufacturing process. What makes this even more impressive is that the J620 operates on their biogas.  Their biogas is created from residual malt materials used in the distillation process.  This is so so so making it a truly green whiskey.

This closed-loop system not only reduces waste but also maximizes energy efficiency.
