Let’s be honest, it’s most definitely time to Save the Delaware River from fracking. For the Delaware is the river that runs through the heart of the film GASLAND. They have kept drilling and fracking out of the river basin; most recently and for the past three and a half years. Now we must Save the Delaware River because it’s also facing its most grave and urgent threat.

Please see this video that Matt Sanchez and Josh Fox created. It’s essentially to highlight the critical importance of the upcoming vote on October 21st in Trenton NJ.

On October 21st, the Delaware River Basin Commission will vote on a plan to allow over 20,000 gas wells in the Delaware River Basin. They also definitely need calls to come from all over the nation. Therefore , they need people from all over the region to come out in protest on October 21st.

The Delaware River Basin Commission is an intergovernmental body. One that is comprised of five voting members. They include:

1. Governor Andrew Cuomo of New York

2. Governor Christie of New Jersey

3. Governor Corbett of Pennsylvania

4. Governor Markell of Delaware

5. and the Obama Administration represented by the Army Corps of Engineers.

For the Delaware River to be opened up to drilling, three out of the five have to vote yes on the draft regulations plan. In addition, they need them all to reject the proposal and reject gas drilling and fracking.

There has never been a more urgent moment in the Northeast in the battle against fracking. The Delaware is the primary drinking water source for 15.6 Million people and is a national treasure.

Here are 4 ways that you can participate:

1) Call the the Governors from the member states and President Obama TODAY and tell them, “Hello, I am calling you to express my serious concerns about hydrofracking. Please Don’t Drill the Delaware!”
