SUN Club Launches New York Chapter for Donations with GME

Invites New York-area Non-Profits to Apply for Solar Energy Donations through its Sun Club

The Green Mountain Energy Sun ClubΒ launched its New York Chapter and is inviting qualifying New York non-profits to be the first to apply for donations to purchase and install solar energy systems on their property. www.gmsunclub.com

Here’s the revised version with active tense and shorter sentences:

β€œGreen Mountain Energy works to change the way power is made,” said John Holtz, director for the Eastern Region. β€œEvery solar system we donate through the New York Sun Club moves us closer to that goal. It also supports local communities and gives our customers a bigger role in expanding solar power across the state.”

GME Sun Club

The Sun Club is a unique program in which customers can choose to support solar energy by contributing an additional $5 on their monthly Con Edison electricity bill. The mission of the Sun Club is to fund, build and promote solar power while assisting non-profit organizations with a socially-responsible focus to reduce their environmental footprints.green mountain energy sun club

Green Mountain created the club as a voluntary program to give its customers yet one more way to make a difference for the environment. Β The donations are not just for solar arrays; the Sun Club will also consider applicants looking to install other technology which uses the power of the sun to generate pollution-free electricity or heat water.

Texas Club

Since 2002, Green Mountain Energy and its customers have made 30 donations through the Texas Sun Club. These gifts helped install nearly 400 kilowatts of solar power on nonprofit buildings. Each system brings clean energy to roofs and campuses across the state.

The impact goes beyond energy. These projects also teach communities about the value of pollution-free power. So far, the environmental benefits are major.

The solar systems have helped avoid as much carbon dioxide as 3.8 million miles not driven. That’s like recycling over 1 million pounds of newspaper. Or like 1 million homes turning off their lights for a full day.

Now, the Sun Club hopes to bring that same success to New York.

A Brighter Future Starts Local

Finally, the launch of the Sun Club’s New York Chapter is more than a milestone. That’s because it’s a call to action. With Green Mountain Energy’s support, communities across the state now have a new way to go solar, reduce emissions, and invest in sustainable change.

Because when clean energy meets community impact, it’s obvious. That’s because everybody wins. And this is just the beginning.
