With the advent of the second-generation Cayenne, Porsche has introduced parallel hybrid technology and applied a comprehensive program to increase efficiency to the entire model range. Significant reductions in consumption were achieved by the eight-speed automatic Tiptronic S with auto start/stop function and wide ratio spread, thermal management for engine and transmission cooling circuit, electrical system recuperation and variable fuel cutoff, and not least by weight reduction and intelligent lightweight design.Cayenne Turbo

Cayenne S Hybrid Drive
The Cayenne S Hybrid is the first Porsche production car with a hybrid drive. The primaryengine of the Cayenne S Hybrid is a three litre supercharged V6 engine with direct fuelinjection that generates 333 hp.
The engine is coupled with a 34 kW (47 hp) electric motor, which can drive the Cayenne either alone or in tandem with the combustion engine. It alsoacts as both generator and starter motor. The hybrid module consists of this electric motorand a decoupling clutch between the engine and the new eight-speed automatic. The hybridsystem is completed by a 288-volt nickel-metal hydride battery (NiMH) under the boot floor, which stores the electrical energy recovered during braking and driving.
Six-Cylinder Cayenne S Hybrid Engine
The six-cylinder Cayenne S Hybrid engine has the power of an eight-cylinder engine and significantly lower fuel consumption. With a total power of 380 hp, the Cayenne S Hybrid consumes just 8.2 l/100 kmNEDC and CO2 emissions of just 193 g/km. The Porsche hybrid drive also allows the rea -lisation of additional efficiency potentials in higher speed ranges by “coasting” without com -bustion engine on motorways and highways.
This unique range has been met with an extraordinary response from the public and customers: Both in reader surveys and the APEAL test conducted by the renowned U.S. market research institute J.D. Power and Associates, the Cayenne is regularly rated first. The world’s most popular Porsche model in 2012 was the Cayenne. Up to November, 68,435 Cayenne cars have been delivered to our customers. With 3,133 vehicles sold, the Cayenne S Hybrid is one of the best-selling, powerful SUV hybrid vehicles.
