The Green Living Guy

OVERLAND PARK, KS – January 30, 2014: ConEdison Solutions, one of America’s leading energy service companies, has received accreditation from the State of Kansas to provide energy savings performance contracting services to public agencies under the Facility Conservation Improvement Program (FCIP).

The State qualifies providers after undertaking an extensive review to ensure the applicant’s ability to deliver and guarantee long-term operational savings for public agencies.

Through FCIP certification, ConEdison Solutions will work in conjunction with Kansas public entities to develop, fund and implement a wide range of energy-related infrastructure projects, with guaranteed results. Participating end users can include a broad spectrum of state agencies, municipalities, counties and schools aiming to minimize energy spending by maximizing energy efficiency. Kansas’ energy efficiency initiatives also reduce the need to build or expand power generation facilities.

“Agencies that implement these guaranteed energy-savings initiatives are able to help ease the tax burdens faced by the people of Kansas,” said Michael W. Gibson, Vice President of ConEdison Solutions. “When public entities upgrade their facilities in a way that ensures a long-term reduction in energy spending, the effective outcome is an upgrade that costs less for Kansas taxpayers.”

With this approval, ConEdison Solutions has now been certified as a pre-approved ESCO in 23 states across the U.S. It should be noted that 21 other states do not require a pre-approval certification as an ESCO to operate within them. ConEdison Solutions is one of only ten accredited Energy Services Providers (ESP), the highest level of accreditation, by the National Association of Energy Services Companies (NAESCO). ConEdison Solutions is also approved as energy services contractor by the U.S. Department of Energy, U.S. Department of Defense, and the United States Postal Service.

Public entities that hire pre-approved, FCIP-certified vendors reduce costs by avoiding the time and expense these agencies would otherwise devote to identifying qualified vendors.

In addition to winning FCIP approval, ConEdison Solutions has also earned a certificate of authorization to practice engineering by the Kansas State Board of Technical Professions.
