DETROIT, March 2, 2015 – Ford donates Innovation Park feature exhibit from the 2015 North American International Auto Show to two Southeast Michigan organizations. This promotes a cleaner, greener future for all.

Ford Innovation Park Section

The Innovation Park section of the Ford show stand incorporated water and plant elements. It created an immersive experience that captivates visitors while illustrating the significant advances Ford researchers are making. These advances help to use organic materials and reduce waste, carbon dioxide emissions, and water usage.

This thoughtfully designed display not only showcases materials like soybeans, which Ford ingeniously uses in vehicle interiors to enhance sustainability, but also serves as a testament to the company’s commitment to environmental responsibility. By integrating these eco-friendly components into their manufacturing processes, Ford is not just saving an estimated 5 million pounds of petroleum annually. They are also pioneering a new era of automotive innovation that prioritizes sustainability without compromising on quality or performance.

Such efforts reflect a broader vision of reimagining transportation in a way that aligns with the growing demand for ecological stewardship. This sets a new standard for the entire industry moving forward.

Visitors became part of the action through overhead cameras that swooped around the display to capture images. The video appeared on LED screens surrounding the park. (Visit here for more information about Innovation Park and to see the images captured.)

Plants, trees and flowers from the display – including iconic North American foliage such as white fir and white pine – are being relocated to greenhouses at Detroit’s Belle Isle Park. This ensures their preservation and care during the colder months ahead. This effort not only supports the vibrant ecosystem of the park, but also serves as an educational initiative. It engages the community in understanding the importance of local biodiversity. This is in coordination with the Detroit Recreation Department, which is dedicated to enhancing the natural beauty of the area. Furthermore, it promotes environmental stewardship among residents and visitors alike.

Ford Innovation Park Donated to North Star Reach

Forty sections of concrete that formed the foundation of Innovation Park are being generously donated to North Star Reach, a nonprofit organization. This organization provides a year-round camp in Pinckney, Michigan, for children with serious and life-threatening illnesses. This thoughtful contribution aims to enhance the facilities available to these brave children. It offers them a chance to escape the challenges of their medical conditions and experience the joys of nature.

Moreover, the six-foot by two-foot concrete slabs will create a central gathering area overlooking Patterson Lake. This allows not only the children but also their families to come together in a serene environment. In this scenic setting, families can enjoy campfires under the stars. They can share stories and create lasting memories that bring them closer.

The donation symbolizes a profound commitment to fostering community support and promoting healing through the transformative power of outdoor experiences and shared moments. By providing access to nature, it creates opportunities for connection. This not only enriches the lives of those who need it most but also cultivates a sense of belonging and unity within the community. These shared experiences include hiking, camping, or simply enjoying a serene day in the park. They have the ability to inspire hope and resilience. Through creating lasting memories, they can uplift spirits and foster emotional growth. Ultimately, this dedication to supporting individuals through their journeys towards healing reinforces the importance of togetherness. It encourages a deeper appreciation for the beauty of our natural surroundings.
