C.J. Quinn is a middle-grade author whose book brings environmental awareness issues to teens via the genre of fantasy. She speaks out about environmental issues after traveling the world and seeing for herself the peril of danger the Earth is in. She also speaks out about how it is important for young people to get involved and how reading is actually a great way to inspire environmental activism in youth.

Some say a Trump Cabinet could put our environment on course for a ‘danger zone.’

The outpouring of youth activism for environmental awareness, however, is encouraging. Environmental activist and middle-grade author C.J. Quinn says the key to inspiring our youth to continue on this path or to become awakened for the first time can be found in reading. Quinn also believes youth is the answer to what may seem like a setback in environmental protection progress.

Empowering, thoughtful, and timely, Quinn discussed the following:

Ideas on how to make energy profitable for oil companies

Why do we need to focus on examples of what is happening in our world such as ocean acidification or air pollution in cities, such as the recent closure of commerce in Delhi, India (it is so smoggy, no one can go outside)

Why it’s difficult to change someone’s outlook that is ingrained in them, which is why it’s important our youth are educated

How she believes the genre of fantasy can help middle school students become empowered and awakened by environmental issues

How the genre of fantasy is an especially important vehicle for transferring sometimes challenging and complex ideas to our youth

C.J. Quinn is the author of Talia and the Capture of Wrath, a middle-grade fantasy novel that promotes environmental awareness. After traveling the world, she settled down to start a family, which has proven to be the biggest adventure yet. She currently resides in Seattle with her family.

Talia and the Capture of Wrath are available via Amazon, wherever books are sold. The audio version of Talia and the Capture of Wrath was released in November 2016.
