Each year, American passenger cars and trucks burn 121 billion gallons of gasoline and spew upwards of 3 trillion pounds of carbon pollution into the air.. These emissions are from both the vehicle tailpipes and the “upstream” emissions from extracting, refining, and transporting the oil to our vehicles.. Our dangerous dependence on oil has resulted in many catastrophes the years, and every day, we send more than $500 million abroad to pay for oil, increasing our national debt and dependence on many nations hostile to our policies.

Plug-in electric vehicles

Plug-in electric vehicles (EVs), which require no gasoline and emit no pollution from their tailpipes, present a critical opportunity to slash pollution, reduce our dependence on oil, create American jobs, and improve national security!

You will learn about state rebates for purchasing an EV or charging unit, the state tax rebate or credit for converting vehicles to plug-in, local or state building code change that mandates new construction include EV-ready wiring, waiver of emissions inspections or sales tax for EVs, information on which EVs and incentives are available here in NY. And finally, a list of all EV’s and which EV model will work best for you.

In addition, there will be models that you can view. Also and experience the beauty of these vehicles.

To spruce up New York City with even more greenery this spring, the New York Restoration Project has partnered with leading online charity auction site, charitybuzz.com, for the first annual Earth Day Auction. The Los Angeles City Council approved moving forward with the Los Angeles Green Business Certification Program. The City of Los Angeles’ initiative, to be administered by the Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD), will provide information on how to identify a green business and how businesses can adopt sustainable practices. One of the aims is to enable consumers to support firms that strive to protect the environment. The program was announced at a news conference at Ciudad restaurant. Green Seal, Inc., the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce, Green Globe and dineLA, a part of LA INC, The Los Angeles Convention and Visitors Bureau will join the LACCD in its work on this effort.
Joe Veilleux doesn’t view himself as an environmentalist, but he understands how his actions might paint him with that brush. “I’m not an environmentalist,” said Veilleux, general manager of the U.S. operations of natural health ingredient manufacturer Euromed. “I’m a pragmatist. There’s a difference. A lot of environmentalists have characterized their cause as one that pits them directly against corporate America. I’m part of corporate America, but I also recognize the debt I owe to the environment and want to do my fair share to protect it. In the long run, it’s just good for business and there are plenty of examples throughout history of how our environment is one of our most valuable natural resources.” Veilleux’s company is partner with the Everglades Foundation in a campaign dubbed Glade-iator (www.glade-iator.org), which is a model of the public-private partnership Veilleux believes is good for business.
