It’s no secret that sustainable fashion is becoming more popular for consumers. As well as with some of our favorite celebrities. So some fashion designers have been ahead of the trend for years. Therefore they have already made a mark in the sustainable fashion world. That’s including Zero Waste Daniel. Zero Waste Daniel is a Brooklyn-based sustainable fashion brand. One that is the first company to make 100% zero waste clothes.

and completely reinvents them into clothing. All to make people feel and look good while wearing them. Most noteworthy while over 21 billion pounds of textiles go into landfills each year.

Therefore, Daniel can proudly say that the company contributes to none of that. Meaning 100% zero waste. More importantly that they keep all fabric waste at a zero since the brand’s inception in 2016.

You may remember Daniel from NBC’s first fashion reality show, Fashion Star, in 2013, where he made a name for himself amongst celebrity shoppers including Jennifer Hudson, Kristen Bell, and Amber Valetta, as they’ve been seen wearing Daniel’s zero waste designs on red carpets and magazine covers ever since. This month, Daniel is being honored for his long dedication to sustainability as a part of Pildora’s #Fashionability Designer Spotlight Series.

To spruce up New York City with even more greenery this spring, the New York Restoration Project has partnered with leading online charity auction site, charitybuzz.com, for the first annual Earth Day Auction. The Los Angeles City Council approved moving forward with the Los Angeles Green Business Certification Program. The City of Los Angeles’ initiative, to be administered by the Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD), will provide information on how to identify a green business and how businesses can adopt sustainable practices. One of the aims is to enable consumers to support firms that strive to protect the environment. The program was announced at a news conference at Ciudad restaurant. Green Seal, Inc., the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce, Green Globe and dineLA, a part of LA INC, The Los Angeles Convention and Visitors Bureau will join the LACCD in its work on this effort.
Joe Veilleux doesn’t view himself as an environmentalist, but he understands how his actions might paint him with that brush. “I’m not an environmentalist,” said Veilleux, general manager of the U.S. operations of natural health ingredient manufacturer Euromed. “I’m a pragmatist. There’s a difference. A lot of environmentalists have characterized their cause as one that pits them directly against corporate America. I’m part of corporate America, but I also recognize the debt I owe to the environment and want to do my fair share to protect it. In the long run, it’s just good for business and there are plenty of examples throughout history of how our environment is one of our most valuable natural resources.” Veilleux’s company is partner with the Everglades Foundation in a campaign dubbed Glade-iator (www.glade-iator.org), which is a model of the public-private partnership Veilleux believes is good for business.
