Porsche Taycan: Electrifying Journey to Formula E

Porsche Taycan Goes Formula E

The Porsche Taycan proves its mettle on a 2,000-kilometer odyssey. It’s not just a car; it’s a testament to Porsche’s commitment to electric excellence.

Porsche Taycan: Aerodynamic Marvel at Formula E

Rain droplets streak upwards on the windscreen. Why? Porsche’s meticulous engineering has maximized aerodynamics. The result? Less resistance, lower consumption, and more range.

Range Anxiety? Not Here

The new Taycan boasts up to 679 kilometers of range (WLTP). Even at highway speeds, it sips energy like a connoisseur. “500 kilometers on a single charge is easily achievable,” says Hans Mueller, Porsche’s lead engineer for the Taycan project.

Charging: Blink and You’ll Miss It

In Haudiomont, France, the Taycan charges from 13% to 95% in just 28 minutes. Coffee break? More like a espresso shot. The days of long charging waits are over.

Formula E: Where Efficiency Meets Speed

At London’s ExCeL, the Formula E season finale showcases electric racing at its finest. Pascal Wehrlein, now Formula E World Champion, notes, “The track has many bumps and is very narrow. This makes overtaking difficult. But the track is the same for everyone.”

Porsche Taycan: From Racetrack to Road

Florian Modlinger, Director Factory Motorsport Formula E at Porsche, explains, “The Porsche 99X Electric can feed up to 350 kW back into the battery via the rear axle and 250 kW via the front axle.” This technology trickles down to the Taycan, which can recuperate up to 400 kW.

Safety First, But Make It Fast

The Taycan Turbo GT serves as the Formula E safety car. Bruno Correia, its driver, chuckles, “Even the Formula E racing cars can hardly keep up on the straights.”

Why I Love Porsche

As a car enthusiast, I can’t help but admire Porsche’s commitment to innovation. The Taycan isn’t just an electric car; it’s a glimpse into the future of automotive engineering. Porsche has managed to maintain its sports car DNA while embracing the electric revolution. It’s this blend of heritage and forward-thinking that makes Porsche truly special.
