MINI Countryman SE ALL4 Electric: Test Drive Results 2025

Mini Countryman SE ALL4 Electric

So, if you’re looking to shrink your carbon footprint while supersizing your driving pleasure, the 2025 Mini Electric Countryman SE ALL4 might just be your perfect match. Trust me, once you go electric Mini, you might never go back!

First off, let’s talk about the basics. The 2025 Mini Countryman SE All4 is Mini’s first fully electric SUV, and it’s making quite a splash in the EV world. This little powerhouse packs a punch with dual electric motors – one on each axle. So that Mini package is delivering a combined 308 horsepower and 364 lb-ft of torque. That’s some serious zip for a not-so-mini Mini!

Range that Keeps on Going

First things first, let’s talk range anxiety – or rather, the lack of it. The 2025 Mini Countryman SE ALL4 electric laughs in the face of range concerns. During our test drive, we easily surpassed the 250-mile mark on a single charge. That’s right, folks – this little dynamo kept going and going, leaving us impressed and, frankly, a bit slack-jawed.

Now, onto the driving experience:

Performance:

The Countryman SE All4 doesn’t disappoint when it comes to acceleration. It can go from 0-60 mph in an estimated 5.5 seconds, which is pretty impressive for an electric SUV.  I found that the instant torque from the electric motors made overtaking entering onto a parkway a breeze. So on the Sprain Brook  I did around 55 mph range. Yet it town it was an efficiency beast!

Handling:

True to Mini’s reputation, the Countryman SE maintains that go-kart-like feel we’ve all come to love. The steering is well-balanced, and the suspension does a great job of keeping the body controlled through tight corners.  The battery’s weight actually helps here, giving the car a low center of gravity for flatter cornering.

Ride Comfort:

I like how the wheel is more  stiff.  That enhances the enthusiast appeal. It’s not your cushy cruiser, but rather a more engaging, fun-to-drive experience.

Range:

Here’s where things get a bit tricky. The EPA-estimated range is 212 miles on a full charge with the standard wheels. We had gotten more of a 250 range by being in eco mode and driving efficiently.  So you first put in eco mode and drive it efficiently. You’ll see the change in range results. Now while this might seem a bit low in range compared to some competitors. However, it’s really important to consider the overall package and price point. Plus I always loved MINI cars!

Charging:

The 2025 model comes with a CCS DC fast charging port, though Mini plans to switch to Tesla-style NACS charging plugs in the future.

Interior and Tech:

The Countryman SE keeps that classic Mini charm inside, with a pared-down aesthetic and the signature circular infotainment screen. However, some testers found the infotainment system a bit quirky to use, so that’s something to keep in mind during your test drive.

Safety Features:

Good news! The new Countryman SE finally gets a blind spot warning system, which was notably absent in its predecessor. It also comes with adaptive cruise control, though adjusting the following distance isn’t as straightforward as in some other vehicles. We didn’t test the vehicle like that.

Eco Mode: Saving More Than Just the Planet

But wait, there’s more! Flick the switch to Eco mode, and you’re in for a treat. Not only does this nifty feature help you squeeze even more miles out of your charge, but it also gives you that warm, fuzzy feeling of doing your bit for Mother Earth. It’s like having your electric cake and eating it too!

Handling that Hugs the Road

Now, let’s get to the nitty-gritty – how does it drive? Well, imagine the nimbleness of a classic Mini, but with a whisper-quiet electric heart. The instant torque from the electric motor sends you darting through traffic with the agility of a caffeinated squirrel. Meanwhile, the low center of gravity (thanks, battery pack!) keeps you glued to the road like you’re on rails.

Interior: Where Retro Meets the Future

Step inside, and you’re greeted by a delightful mash-up of retro charm and cutting-edge tech. The iconic circular center display now houses a state-of-the-art infotainment system, while toggle switches give you that classic Mini feel. It’s like stepping into a time machine that’s been kitted out by NASA.

The Verdict: Small Car, Big Impact

In conclusion, the 2025 Mini Electric isn’t just a car – it’s a statement. It proves that eco-friendly doesn’t mean boring, and that small cars can have a big impact. With its impressive range, energy-saving Eco mode, and quintessential Mini handling, it’s not just a step towards the future of driving – it’s a giant leap.

Wrapping Up

Overall, the 2025 Mini Countryman SE All4 seems to strike a balance between the brand’s iconic fun-to-drive character and the benefits of electric propulsion. While it may not have the longest range in its class, it offers a unique blend of style, performance, and that unmistakable Mini charm.

Remember, everyone’s driving experience is unique, so I’d encourage you to take one for a spin yourself if you’re considering making the switch to this electric Mini. After all, there’s nothing quite like feeling that instant electric torque for yourself!
