Car Battery Recycling Program: Tackling Battery Waste

The Lube Stop, Inc. (Lube Stop), Northeast Ohio’s largest quick oil change company, today announced it now offers a battery replacement service. In conjunction with the new service, Lube Stop also launched a used car battery recycling program for local communities free of charge.
The success of a battery replacement pilot program conducted at four locations since July 2010 prompted the company to roll the service out companywide. The use of state-of-the-art, digital battery testers during the Complete 20-Point Service inspection process, high-quality automotive batteries and aggressive pricing have all contributed to the program’s initial success.

Otto Group and the Cotton made in Africa initiative promote adult literacy in Burkina Faso

Learning to read and write supports sustainable development
Education is the key to sustainable development. This is why the Otto Group is making a financial contribution to a social project established by the Cotton made in Africa initiative to promote adult literacy.
This public private partnership project receives major support from the Otto Group and offers some 5,000 adults in the Central-South region the opportunity to learn to read and write in evening school. “Improving the literacy rate is one of the key factors in establishing a sustainable development process”, is how Andreas Streubig, Otto Group Division Manager Environmental and Social Policy, explains the company‟s engagement.
