Project Green Challenge Launches October 1
From your dorm room and daily trash to your food choices and fitness routine, Project Green Challenge (PGC) has every eco option covered. With just 15 days until its October 1 kickoff, the student-powered movement is gearing up for one of the most ambitious green campus initiatives ever.
The campaign is led by Teens Turning Green (TTG), a nonprofit founded by Gen Z innovators determined to reshape sustainability. Their bold goal? Enlist at least 100,000 students—and adults nationwide—to take the 30-day Challenge.
A Mission to Inspire Action
“The Challenge aims to raise awareness about conscious living, informed consumption, and the collective impact of individual actions,” explained Erin Schrode, 20, Project Green Challenge program director and TTG co-founder. “In just one month, you’ll not only change your life, but also help sustain the planet.”
Throughout October, participants will be guided through 30 daily steps that reveal how fun, accessible, and effective a greener lifestyle can be.

How It Works
Every day, registered participants at projectgreenchallenge.com will receive one challenge focused on a specific “green, greener, or greenest” action. Each comes with eco tips, websites, articles, and videos to inspire participants to complete the task.
To spark creativity, PGC also offers green prizes for those who dive deepest into innovation. The challenges are designed to build a powerful and diverse movement, encouraging small actions that create big change.
Topics That Matter
Here’s a preview of themes covered during the month:
- Eco Profile – whole body, Cradle to Cradle design
- Food + Fitness – labeling, nutrition, sustainable workouts
- Home & Dorm Life – green cleaning, Meatless Mondays, reusable swaps
- Sustainable Agriculture – natural living, seasonal eating, fair trade
- Eco Style – organic cotton, responsible fashion, conscious consumerism
- Tech & Paper – energy savings, digital balance, waste reduction
- The 5 R’s – rethink, reduce, reuse, recycle, rot
- Wellness – water, school lunches, healthy habits
- Advocacy – becoming an eco hero, leading change on campus
Each theme shows that sustainability isn’t one-size-fits-all—it’s a lifestyle anyone can adopt.
Culmination: Green University
As a finale, ten finalists will earn a spot at Green University, a two-day eco-summit in San Francisco on December 3–4. There, students will collaborate, learn, and showcase their vision for a sustainable future.
Although prizes are reserved for high school and college students, PGC is open to everyone. Whether you’re seeking a lifestyle reset, a classroom project, or just a fun way to learn more, this challenge welcomes all who want to make a positive difference.
