Why Biofuels Matter

Transportation remains one of the hardest sectors to remove pollution from the equation. Passenger vehicles continue moving toward an electric vehicle. Meanwhile, airplanes, marine shipping, agriculture, and heavy-duty trucking still require high-energy liquid fuels.

That is where this fuel can certainly make a big difference.

Renewable diesel, sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), biodiesel, and ethanol already reduce petroleum use in many parts of the world. Furthermore, they often require little or no modification to existing engines and fueling infrastructure. 

Environmental Benefits

When produced sustainably, biofuels provide several environmental advantages.

Biofuels and Electric Vehicles Can Work Together

The clean energy transition is not a competition between electric vehicles and biofuels.

Instead, both technologies solve different problems.

Battery-electric vehicles excel in passenger transportation. Meanwhile, sustainable biofuels remain critical for aviation, shipping, agriculture, emergency services, and long-haul trucking where batteries may not yet offer practical solutions.

Using the right technology for each application will accelerate global emissions reductions while strengthening energy security.
