JA Solar Powers Up Israel’s Largest Ground-Mounted Solar Project
JA Solar, a global leader in high-performance solar technology, has officially started shipping 2 megawatts (MW) of solar modules to Israel’s largest ground-mounted photovoltaic (PV) project. This shipment represents a major milestone for both the company and the region’s growing commitment to renewable energy.
Bringing Solar to the Negev Desert
The modules will be installed in Israel’s sun-drenched Negev Desert, a region with some of the highest solar potential in the world. Once operational, the project will also generate enough clean energy to power hundreds of homes. In addition, they will also reduce fossil fuel reliance, and also prevent thousands of tons of carbon emissions annually.
The desert may be harsh, but with the right technology, it becomes the perfect platform for clean power production.

High-Efficiency Modules Built to Perform
JA Solar’s polycrystalline PV modules were selected for this project due to their strong performance in high-temperature, high-radiation environments. More notably, these modules are known for:
- High energy yield
- Long-term reliability
- Resilience under tough environmental conditions
Engineered for utility-scale systems, the modules will also be laid out across a wide expanse of land. Essentially to maximize solar absorption.
JA Solar Powers Israel: Technical Specs That Deliver
JA Solar’s polycrystalline modules deployed in this project offer a conversion efficiency exceeding 16%. Now that’s also essentially making them ideal for utility-scale deployment in high-insolation zones. Especially like the Negev Desert and countless other areas or deserts that can power the world.
In addition, the modules are designed with anti-reflective glass. One which improves light absorption, and a robust aluminum alloy frame. That’s to essentially withstand desert wind and sand conditions. Each panel operates reliably under a wide range of temperatures. I mean with a temperature coefficient of -0.41%/°C, meaning energy output remains stable even in extreme heat. These technical advantages ensure the system delivers maximum kilowatt-hour performance per square meter. More importantly, over the lifetime of the plant.
Strategic Global Expansion
More broadly, this shipment is more than just another delivery—it’s part of JA Solar’s broader strategy. That’s to expand into promising international solar markets. Working closely with local partners, the company ensured seamless logistics and optimal technical integration.
JA Solar executives emphasized that this project reflects their ongoing mission to accelerate clean energy adoption worldwide—especially in fast-developing regions like the Middle East.
Israel’s Solar Push
Israel is actively increasing its solar capacity to reach its national clean energy goals. With land limitations elsewhere, the Negev offers untapped solar potential. Projects like this not only help meet those targets—they also create jobs, attract investment, and strengthen local infrastructure.
As solar technology becomes more affordable and efficient, Israel is positioning itself as a regional leader in solar development.
A Glimpse Into the Future for JA Solar as it powers Israel
JA Solar 2 MW shipment powering Israel may be certainly a single step. However, it also represents a broader trend. Countries across the globe are shifting. That’s from fossil fuels to more excitingly renewables. From deserts to rooftops, the solar revolution is in full swing.
Finally, the completion of this project signifies JA Solar isn’t just lighting up homes in Israel. That’s because it’s helping pave the path. Essentially to a cleaner, more sustainable world—one panel at a time.
