In New Hampshire, the Pemi-Valley Habitat affiliate partnered with the Plymouth Area Renewable Energy Initiative to focus on insulation and air sealing. Volunteers and trainees took part in build days, working collaboratively on the first of four adjacent energy-efficient homes. This hands-on training emphasized practical, high-performance construction techniques .
Eco-Village in Wisconsin
River Falls, Wisconsin, is home to Habitat’s St. Croix Valley Eco Village, a sustainable community featuring 18 energy-efficient homes. Notably, this innovative project follows Passive House standards while also using solar energy and radiant heating. In addition, the homes include rainwater harvesting systems with cisterns and barrels. Moreover, the neighborhood supports edible landscaping and community gardens. Thanks to strong backing from both local and national partners, the Eco Village stands as a model for green, affordable housing.
