“Furthermore, we are working with organizations such as SHFT because they share a similar philosophy.  Looking at the small and large actions that can make a real difference.  That’s both in a creative and authentic way.  Jay added: “which is part of Ford’s commitment to allow people to choose which fuel-efficient and green solution works best for them.”

First off, Ford Motor Company announced the My Energi.  My Energi a first-of-its-kind idea. That’s a powered vehicle with the potential to deliver the best of what a plug-in hybrid offers   This is without depending on the electric grid for fuel.

To spruce up New York City with even more greenery this spring, the New York Restoration Project has partnered with leading online charity auction site, charitybuzz.com, for the first annual Earth Day Auction. Available through May 5 at charitybuzz.com/auctions/NYRPEarthDay, the Restore New York City, Restore the Earth Auction offers bidders the chance to spend the day with the organization’s founder, Bette Midler or act as a muse for a custom painting by renowned artist, Ryan Paul Simmons. The Los Angeles City Council approved moving forward with the Los Angeles Green Business Certification Program. The City of Los Angeles’ initiative, to be administered by the Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD), will provide information on how to identify a green business and how businesses can adopt sustainable practices. One of the aims is to enable consumers to support firms that strive to protect the environment. The program was announced at a news conference at Ciudad restaurant. Green Seal, Inc., the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce, Green Globe and dineLA, a part of LA INC, The Los Angeles Convention and Visitors Bureau will join the LACCD in its work on this effort.
Joe Veilleux doesn’t view himself as an environmentalist, but he understands how his actions might paint him with that brush. “I’m not an environmentalist,” said Veilleux, general manager of the U.S. operations of natural health ingredient manufacturer Euromed. “I’m a pragmatist. There’s a difference. A lot of environmentalists have characterized their cause as one that pits them directly against corporate America. I’m part of corporate America, but I also recognize the debt I owe to the environment and want to do my fair share to protect it. In the long run, it’s just good for business and there are plenty of examples throughout history of how our environment is one of our most valuable natural resources.” Veilleux’s company is partner with the Everglades Foundation in a campaign dubbed Glade-iator (www.glade-iator.org), which is a model of the public-private partnership Veilleux believes is good for business.
