FIA President
Jean Todt said: “Russia has been involved in motorsport since the early 20th Century, but its recent growth is impressive. With the introduction of WTCC two years ago and Formula One last year, launching another FIA Championship is a key milestone. Formula E introduces a new style of racing aimed at attracting both motorsport fans and younger audiences. It aligns with the FIA’s role in promoting innovation and technology in the automotive industry. I’m confident that Moscow will enjoy this event.”
“We are delighted to be welcoming Moscow onto the 2014/2015 Formula E calendar as our 10th host city,” said Alejandro Agag. “Russian people have always welcomed with passion and enthusiasm international events and we are sure it will be the same with the Moscow ePrix. Russia’s automotive market is steadily growing, as is its electric vehicle industry and I am confident that Formula E will help to promote the concept of sustainable mobility in this country. As with our previous races, we have no doubt the Moscow ePrix is going to be a fantastic spectacle for teams, drivers and fans.”
Russian Automotive Federation
Sergey Ivanov, Executive Director of the Russian Automobile Federation, stated: “Formula E is, without a doubt, an exciting project that effectively connects motorsport with new technology. Moreover, this is a historic moment for Russian motorsport, as— for the first time—a real race will happen in the city center. We have indeed worked with FIA for a long time, and we firmly believe that the FIA Formula E Championship in Moscow will, in fact, meet all international standards.”
Valentin Buhtoyarov, Chairman of FEH Russia, stated: “I am honored to see Jean Todt and Alejandro Agag at the announcement of the Moscow round of the FIA Formula E Championship. This highlights the importance of the Moscow ePrix in the Championship. I appreciate the support from the Government of Moscow, and I believe the event will be a success. The Moscow ePrix is more than a race; it is a high-tech competition with significant social benefits for the city. It features an engaging entertainment program and promotes sustainability.”
Svetlana Korshunova, organiser of the Moscow ePrix, said: “For eight years now we have been holding Moscow City Racing events and each year we would do our best to come up with something new and exciting. In 2011 the highlight of our show was the participation of EF01 Formula E racing car. It’s the first in the world completely eco-friendly vehicle, developed in France. Since then we’ve been closely following the development of this segment in motorsport and it is a great honour for us to see fully electric racing cars on Moscow streets again but in a totally different status. This is going to be an unforgettable experience!”
Berlin ePrix
As a result of the new Moscow race, which has been met with great enthusiasm and competitive spirit among the teams, the date for the eighth round of the series – the highly anticipated Berlin ePrix – has been brought forward by one week. It will now take place on May 23, 2015. This adjustment not only reflects the dynamic nature of the racing calendar but also aims to enhance the overall experience for fans and participants alike. It allows them to enjoy the thrilling atmosphere of electric racing in the vibrant city of Berlin. The excitement surrounding this event continues to grow. Teams prepare to showcase their skill and innovation on the track.
To date, Formula E has delivered four spectacular races in Beijing, Putrajaya, Punta del Este, and Buenos Aires. Furthermore, each event showcased captivating performances and produced a different winner, which consequently added excitement and unpredictability to the championship. In addition, the remaining rounds take place in highly anticipated locations such as Miami, known for its vibrant atmosphere. Moreover, Long Beach is famous for its picturesque coastline. Additionally, Monaco is renowned for its glamorous setting. Meanwhile, Berlin is a city steeped in history. On the other hand, Moscow blends culture with modernity. Finally, London, being a bustling metropolis, promises to be an exhilarating finale. As the season progresses, fans and teams alike eagerly await the next thrilling contests.
