The Langham Chicago (330 N. Wabash Ave.) announces the recognition of LEED® Gold Level of Certification award. So the LEED rating system, developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). It is the foremost program for buildings. Also homes and communities. All that are designed, constructed, maintained and operated. That’s for improved environmental and human health performance.
Langham Chicago LEED Certification
The Langham, Chicago achieved LEED certification for implementing practical and measurable strategies and solutions aimed at achieving high performance in: sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection and indoor environmental quality.
For example, The Langham utilizes the AMA building’s recycling program that allows the hotel to recycle paper and cardboard for reuse in the office building. Inncom, a temperature controlled thermostat and lighting system featured in each guestroom, defaults the temperature in unoccupied rooms to 70-76 degrees along with queuing lights to shut off when guests exit the room.
CFL LED in Chicago
The hotel uses CFL 13W and LED 14W energy-saving light bulbs, that use 70 percent less energy than standard incandescent light bulbs. Hopefully one day they will go LED!!
In addition to composting kitchen waste, the Langham Chicago also employs the LEED-Certified Integrated Pest Management (IPM) System. IPM eliminating regular pesticide applications. More importantly combining several strategies. All to achieve long-term solutions for pest control.

LEED so much represents the design, construction and operation of green buildings. So over 44,000 projects are currently participating in the commercial and institutional LEED rating systems.
