Yes folks, Vattenfall plans to invest SEK 1 billion in developing new solar power plants. All primarily large-scale ones as well.

That’s from electricity consumers, who can get electricity from our future solar farms. However also from potential customers, who want to both consume and generate electricity from solar power. That came from by Magnus Hall. Magnus is Vattenfall’s President and CEO.

There are two main areas for Vattenfall’s investments in solar power:

1 Development of large-scale solar PV farms, in locations where Vattenfall can use existing infrastructure to cut costs. The Parc Cynog wind farm in Wales is such an example of a combined wind and solar farm

2 Vattenfall is facilitating decentralized energy generation for both private customers and business customers. This will result in new energy services where Vattenfall provides solutions for our customers’ needs, enabling them to generate and consume their own solar PV electricity.

Vattenfall has recently taken the investment decision for three large-scale solar power installations. This is at its existing plants in Velsen, Hemweg and Eemshaven (the Netherlands).

So most noteworthy is the total capacity for these projects amounts to 10.5 MW. More Vattenfall investments in the Netherlands planned, including Haringvliet solar farm for which subsidy confirmed. This solar farm capacity of about 40 MW. It includes over 130,000 solar panels. This install equals the renewable electricity demand of over 11,000 Dutch households.

The solar farm combining with Haringvliet wind farm. All which includes 6 turbines. For this combined renewable production park, construction is being ready.

Finally, Vattenfall already has a solar farm at the Parc Cynog wind farm in Wales. It inaugurating in 2016, with a total output of 5 megawatts (MW). Which is enough to supply 1,440 homes in Wales with household electricity.

In addition, Vattenfall has applied for permits for several other solar farms. All which combining with wind farms. Because combining the two brings several synergies is enormous. That’s because like combined grid use and the benefits of good relations with the authorities. As well as land owners and other stakeholders. Vattenfall is looking into upcoming possibilities for large-scale solar in other countries. For example the next auction rounds in Germany.

In conclusion and in the decentralized solar sector Vattenfall has started offerings in several markets. Furthermore and in Sweden, solar PV is offered within services. That’s such as InHouse for companies and tenant-owner housing associations. So a leasing model for B2B customers is offered in Germany and Netherlands. Moreover, Vattenfall is offering roof-top solar for housing societies and tenants. Finally and all located in the so-called Mieterstrom concept in Germany.
