Westchester County Supercharges EV Future with $5 Million Clean Transportation Boost
Westchester Launches EV Charging Program in 24 Communities
On July 16, 2025, government said: Charge EV Westchester County! For Westchester County launched a transformative electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure initiative. With $5 million on the table, the county will reimburse up to 50% of installation costs for municipalities. The goal: turbocharge EV charger deployment across 24 cities, towns, and villages.
Why It Matters
This isnβt just about convenienceβitβs about climate. The program will bring 79 new charging sites and over 750 ports online. That means less tailpipe pollution, fewer greenhouse gases, and cleaner air for every resident.
Westchester Countyβs clean transportation initiative powers up neighborhoods with over 750 new EV charging ports across 24 municipalities.
A Vision from the Top
βThis is an investment in both our environment and our residents,β said County Executive Ken Jenkins. βBy installing more EV chargers in neighborhoods across Westchester, weβre helping people transition to clean transportation while collaborating with our local partners to reduce pollution, and promote healthier communities.β
βThis program is a critical step toward meeting our climate goals at the local and regional levels. By leveraging county support, weβre bringing the cost of installation down to zero or near zero for many municipalities.β
The Charge EV Westchester County program allows municipalities to apply for funding and must host chargers on public property or rights-of-way. Each city or town determines whether to offer free charging or set user fees. Once approved and constructed, installations go liveβoften within weeks.
