Green Emmy’s Jessica Williamson: Going Sustainable Fashion

When Green Emmy’s with Jessica Williamson Meets Glam: My Unexpected Turn as a Red Carpet Assistant

“Are you still in L.A.? We need a dress for the Emmys for Green Emmy’s Jessica.”

That was the Tuesday morning text I sent — and just like that, The Green Living Guy officially became The Glam Squad Assistant. This change ushered in an exciting new chapter filled with vibrant creativity and collaboration. This transition not only reflects a fresh perspective on sustainable living but also aligns with my growing passion for enhancing personal style through eco-friendly choices. As I embark on this journey, I look forward to engaging with fellow enthusiasts who are committed to making a positive impact. Meanwhile, they can embrace their unique flair.

How It All Started

I was staying at Jessica Williamson’s place as we were negotiating next steps for working together. I wake up (crusties still in eyes) and Jessica (a talented writer and producer, was heading to the Daytime Emmy Awards). Her production partner, Joseph Rosendo, had several nominations for his PBS travel series Steppin’ Out — including Outstanding Travel and Adventure Program, Sound Mixing, and Sound Editing. She didn’t have a dress for the event or after parties. Green Emmy’s Jessica needed help fast.

I’ve always believed in connecting people who care about sustainability, creativity, and authenticity. So, I immediately said let me ask my longtime friend Deborah Lindquist, the “Green Queen of Fashion.” Deborah and I go way back to the early 2000s when eco-fashion was still something people squinted at. If anyone could make a sustainable red-carpet moment happen, it was her.

A Full-Circle Eco Moment

When Jessica and I arrived at Deborah’s atelier, fate threw in a twist — they’d met before. In 2010, Deborah was a judge for Project Green Search, the world’s first green model competition. Jessica had been one of 130 hopefuls competing for the “Green It Girl” title. Talk about full-circle sustainability!

The Perfect Dress for Green Emmy’s Style with Jessica Williamson

Deborah pulled out a gem from her archive: the Cassandra Gown — a stunning ruby-toned hemp/silk blend adorned with delicate Chantilly lace, perfectly showcasing a mermaid silhouette that accentuates the body’s curves. This exquisite gown, with its intricate craftsmanship, was designed to captivate at formal events, leaving a lasting impression on anyone who laid eyes on it. For after-parties, she thoughtfully offered a vintage kimono, which brought an element of nostalgia and elegance, paired beautifully with a luxurious silk look that flowed effortlessly with every movement. The combination of these garments not only highlighted her impeccable taste but also reflected a versatile wardrobe capable of transitioning seamlessly from grand celebrations to intimate gatherings.

When Jessica stepped into the Cassandra, everything clicked. The red hue lit up her skin tone and hair like fire meeting silk. I’ve been around design long enough to recognize magic when it happens — and this was it for Green Emmy’s Jessica.

Conscious Glamour to Match

Then came the next question: “What about jewels?”

Naturally, Deborah had her covered. Jessica connected with two incredible conscious jewelers:

Safia Day, who works with natural materials, diamonds, and semi-precious stones. Jill Williams of Jilli Jewels, who designs with the intention of elevating positive energy.

Jessica’s final look featured a pyrite necklace from Jilli Jewels and earrings and a ring from Safia Day. The result? Pure eco-glamour — intentional, radiant, and authentically green. Green Emmy’s Jessica was the epitome of eco-friendly elegance.

The Red Carpet Glow

Seeing Jessica and Joseph step onto that red carpet was most definitely one of those surreal moments. She looked powerful, elegant, and completely herself — wrapped in sustainable fabrics and mindful artistry.

What most people never see about red-carpet looks is the level of collaboration behind the “effortless.” Designers, stylists, jewelers, and also the advocates all come together to tell one story through fabric, light, and purpose.

For me, it wasn’t about fashion — it was about proving that sustainability can elevate style. From hemp and silk to conscious jewelry, everything told the same story: beauty without compromise.

A Green Living Guy Reflection for Green Emmy’s Jessica

That night reminded me that being “green” isn’t limited to solar panels or electric cars. It’s about every choice we make — from what we drive to what we wear. It even extends to how we present ourselves to the world.

Jessica embodied that spirit perfectly. Joseph’s nominations were well-earned, and I couldn’t have been prouder to play a small part in helping sustainability sparkle on Hollywood’s biggest stage. Green Emmy’s Jessica took the spotlight.

Because sometimes… you just have to mix a little glam with your green. Embrace the vibrant hues of nature while adding a touch of sparkle and sophistication. Whether it’s through accessorizing your outfit with shimmering jewelry that catches the sunlight or incorporating dazzling accents into your home decor, the fusion of glamour and greenery can create a refreshing ambiance. This blend not only enhances your personal style but also uplifts your spirit. It reminds you that a bit of elegance can coexist beautifully with the organic and unrefined elements of the world around us.

And you thought The Green Living Guy just does cars and solar…
