Los Angeles-based beverage company to plant one tree for every three bottles of ACTIVATE purchased in select retailers throughout April

Los Angeles (April 6, 2012) – ACTIVATE, the innovative, enhanced vitamin beverage ideal for people with active lifestyles, today announced it will extend its sustainability efforts and partner with American Forests to celebrate Earth Month through a unique “Plant a Tree” in-store initiative. Working with key retail partners in California, Arizona, Oregon, Washington, Hawaii and the Carolinas, ACTIVATE will plant one tree for every three bottles of the beverage sold now through April 30, or up to 10,000 trees.

The partnership is a demonstration of ACTIVATE’s commitment to sustainability as a core pillar within the brand’s vision and values. The program allows consumers to “Get ACTIVATED” while helping contribute to the reforestation of green spaces in their own communities, in an effort to improve air quality, reduce the buildup of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere and help sustain wildlife habitat.

“It was important for us to play a role and contribute to this initiative,” said Jesse Merrill, vice president of marketing for ACTIVATE. “The ‘Plant a Tree’ program helps us leverage our commitment to the environment while allowing our consumers to GET ACTIVATED in an initiative that directly and positively impacts the areas in which they live.”

ACTIVATE’s involvement in the “Plant a Tree” program is an extension of the brand’s ongoing “green” efforts. In 2011, ACTIVATE introduced A BOTTLE FOR THE BETTER™, featuring Re-PET (PolyEthylene Therephthalate) or PCR (Post-Consumer Resin) bottle packaging. As a result, the ACTIVATE bottle is composed of 100 percent post-consumer recycled resins, the processing of which requires less energy and emits less pollution.

American Forests restores and protects urban and rural forests. Founded in 1875, the oldest national non-profit conservation organization in the country has served as a catalyst for many of the most important milestones in the conservation movement, including the founding of the U.S. Forest Service, the national forest and national park systems, and literally thousands of forest ecosystem restoration projects and public education efforts. Since 1990, American Forests has planted nearly 40 million trees in forests throughout the U.S. and beyond, resulting in cleaner air and drinking water, restored habitat for wildlife and fish, and the removal of millions of tons of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.
