The Green Living Guy

Vegan Educator, Chef. Speaker and Author

Kristina Carrillo-Bucaram is a highly respected Raw Vegan Educator, Chef, Speaker and Author. First of all and at the remarkably young age of 18 Kristina who makes a sick Raw Cantaloupe Mint Sorbet knew. She knew that she was going to share her zest and passion. This is all for eating raw organic produce. That’s mid you with the world.

So Kristina, did it with the help of various volunteers. For they are known as, “co-operators” that established the first non-profit in Houston,Texas. All as a result offering affordable, organic raw fruits and vegetables.

Today, the co-op feeds thousands of followers in the fourth largest city in the nation.

When Kristina was only 16, she was diagnosed with hyperglycemia. A disease that can be considered as the onset of diabetes. So the disease took over her health. Furthermore hospitalizing her and creating a cycle of fluctuating medication and illness.

Then her inquisitive nature led her to believe a diet was directly correlated with her disease.

As the NIH recently reported:

Vegetarians miss out on lots of foods. No grilled burgers or franks at picnics. Also no holiday turkey or fries cooked in animal fat. Strict vegetarians may even forego honey made by bees. But vegetarians also tend to miss out on major health problems that plague many Americans. They generally live longer than the rest of us. Also, they’re more likely to bypass heart-related and other ailments.

The fact is, eating a more plant-based diet can boost your health. That’s also whether you’re a vegetarian or not.

So a timely introduction to juicing advocate, John Rose at a visit to Whole Foods made it happen. For he also challenged Kristina to adopt a completely raw vegan approach to her diet.

Consequently, Kristina immediately saw an improvement in her health. All by leaving processed foods behind. That’s as well as consuming only non-cooked, raw fruits and vegetables.

This discovery changed her life forever.

She considers the day she became a Raw Vegan as the first day of the beginning of her new life.

With a serious passion for the raw food lifestyle, Kristina pursued a triple major at Rice University. One that included majoring in Kinesiology, Ceramics, and Voice. At Rice, she also was part of the elite and prestigious honorary educational society, Phi Beta Kappa. As well as she graduated Cum Laude.

Her personal quest for perfecting the knowledge she had acquired was so so insatiable. It led her to study directly under the guidance of the famed Dr. Douglas Graham. For he is also the founder of 80/10/10 principles of raw lifestyle. Under Dr. Graham’s mentorship, she also went to Costa Rica. For that’s where she practiced organic farming and practiced community agriculture.

Rawfully Organic Co-Op

This knowledge is now put to good use. Especially when she returned to Houston.

In September 2007, Kristina full-circled her experience into Rawfully Organic Co-Op. Today, the Co-op has raised over $2 million dollars for the Houston Agricultural and Organic Farming Community. Consequently, the Co-op has over 4,000 registered members. It also serves approximately 1,500 families each month.

There are three drop offs in metropolitan areas of Houston. They are on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. All are designated porch pick-ups for more suburban areas.

In addition, Kristina is now considered a Houston celebrity. As well as an expert in the Raw Food lifestyle.

Moreover, her love affair with fruits and vegetables is always developing. Now into a culinary mastery of raw plant based cuisine. All to continue pursuing her life’s mission. One to bring raw, vegan eating to the mainstream. That’s as well as raise money and awareness about health. All through her non-profit, Rawfully Organic Co-op.

In conclusion, she has an educational Raw-Vegan Coaching website. It’s called Fully Raw. Currently Kristina is all working on a recipe book and DVD. It’s scheduled for release in mid 2012. Finally and has a calendar full of presentations and demonstrations well into the 2013.
