As a result, the GS 450h accelerates confidently. Lexus claims 0–60 mph in about 5.6 seconds, which feels realistic in practice. The power delivery is smooth and strong, with the electric motor filling in torque seamlessly.

Additionally, the continuously variable transmission (CVT) is well-tuned. It responds quickly while keeping the powertrain refined. Drivers can choose between Normal, Eco, Sport, and Sport+ modes. Sport+ in particular sharpens throttle response and steering, making the GS 450h feel lively for a hybrid.

Fuel Economy That Impresses

Fuel economy is a clear selling point. The EPA rates the GS 450h at approximately 29 MPG city and 34 MPG highway.

During my test drive, I averaged about 31 MPG in mixed driving. For a luxury sedan with V6 performance, that’s excellent.

Moreover, regenerative braking works smoothly. It helps recover energy without being grabby or intrusive. In stop-and-go traffic, the GS 450h often runs in EV mode at low speeds, cutting fuel use even

Luxurious Interior

Inside, Lexus delivers its expected high standard of quality. Soft-touch materials, leather seating, and real wood trim create an upscale environment.

The front seats are especially comfortable, with plenty of adjustment and support for long trips. Rear passengers get good legroom, though the battery slightly reduces trunk space.

Additionally, the GS 450h offers a quiet ride. Road and wind noise are well-controlled. Even at highway speeds, the cabin remains hushed. This is classic Lexus refinement at its best.

Technology and Features

The 2013 GS 450h comes well equipped. Standard features include dual-zone automatic climate control, premium audio, and a large infotainment screen with Lexus’s Remote Touch controller.

Navigation is available, with clear graphics and reliable routing. Bluetooth connectivity and USB ports make smartphone integration simple.

Safety options include adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, and a pre-collision system. Lexus’s reputation for reliability and excellent service rounds out the package.

On the Road: Comfortable Yet Capable

While many hybrids focus only on efficiency, the GS 450h adds genuine driving appeal. Steering is precise, with good feedback. The chassis feels balanced in corners, giving you confidence.

Sport+ mode noticeably firms up the adaptive suspension and sharpens responses. Yet even in this mode, the GS 450h remains comfortable enough for daily driving.

In Eco or Normal modes, the ride is plush and composed. The GS 450h soaks up bumps and rough roads without drama.

Verdict: A Smart Luxury Choice

The 2013 Lexus GS 450h stands out as a hybrid that doesn’t compromise. It delivers strong performance, excellent fuel economy, and the refined luxury buyers expect from Lexus.

It’s not a hardcore sports sedan. Instead, it’s a sophisticated blend of comfort and ability, with the added advantage of lower fuel costs.

For those who want to reduce their environmental footprint, the GS 450h remains an excellent choice in its class. This car does not sacrifice luxury or speed.
