October is Energy Action Month.

So you’ve probably already heard some ideas for saving energy at home. But did you know it’s also the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA’s) Shower Better Month? Showering is one of the leading ways Americans use water in the home. Thereby accounting for nearly 17 percent of all residential indoor water use. That’s about 30 gallons per household per day. Then I mean it’s about 1.2 trillion gallons of water every year. Just most noteworthy in the United States!

October water conservation month

Several years ago, there were showerheads that used less water but didn’t provide the satisfying spray most people demand. Some of us even tried to get our families to take shorter showers to conserve water, but shortening your shower only shaves off a few gallons. What we need is a better way to shower and use less water.

WaterSense

That’s where WaterSense® comes in. Switching to a showerhead that has earned EPA’s WaterSense label provides the shower you want with the added satisfaction of saving water, energy, and money. WaterSense labeled showerheads are independently certified to use at least 20 percent less water and perform as well or better than standard models.

By replacing just one showerhead with a WaterSense labeled model, the average family can reduce its annual energy and water costs by more than $70 and save 2,900 gallons of water per year—the amount of water it takes to wash more than 70 loads of loads of laundry. What’s more, because it takes energy to heat water, that family can save the amount of electricity it takes to power its home for 13 days every year just by switching to a WaterSense labeled showerhead.
