Green Hotel in San Francisco: The Presidio
So let’s hear it for the Green Hotel at the Presidio. All because it is the first green hotel inside the Presidio of San Francisco. Now that hotel is most definitely exceptionally green. For it was also recognized for its green practices. All to receive distinguished awards. That’s from both the San Francisco Green Business Council and also the SF Hotel Council.
The Presidio is most definitely honored to accept these awards. Especially and on behalf of the Presidio Trust for Inn at the Presidio. That was said by Terry Haney. Terry is also General Manager of Inn at the Presidio. Terry added he was also proud of the staff and the dedication. Especially because they have also made all the sustainable management practices work.
For I have heard this green hotel in San Francisco works hard. Especially to source locally for products. In addition to other and amenities. All for the Inn and its guests.
Furthermore, The Inn is one of only six hotels in the city. All to receive the SF Green Business seal.
Certification Process
The seal is more importantly awarded after a rigorous verification process. For this certification process is also done in coordination between the City and also the County of San Francisco. Most definitely I have learned, it’s to ensure that businesses comply with all strict environmental standards. For these standards include:
- reducing waste
- preventing pollution
- and also conserving resources
As a national park, the Presidio Trust is needing to be LEED certified. Therefore, it’s also exceptionally committed to green and sustainable practices. All throughout its entire operations.
That was also emphasized by Karen Maggio. Karen is more interestingly the Presidio Trust Director of Hospitality.
Most importantly, Karen added that they were so pleased to be recognized. I mean and especially by the San Francisco Green Business Council. More importantly for the operations of the Inn.

Hotel Hero Award nomination
Consequently, The Inn also received a Hotel Hero Award nomination. This was more notably by the Hotel Council of San Francisco. It’s one of five hotels. Most notably recognized for their outstanding commitment. All most excitingly to sustainability. For the Hotel Hero Award is also given to a hotel or hotel company committed to environmental sustainability.

Moreover, The Inn is located in Pershing Hall. It’s a former bachelor officers’ quarters originally built by the Army in 1903. All to house unmarried officers. The building went through an environmentally sensitive rehabilitation that transformed the stately brick building into the park’s first lodge. Green materials were used throughout the building, from the carpets and rugs, to the paint on the walls to the insulation inside them, which is made from repurposed cotton denim. The Inn received LEED Gold Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council shortly after it opened in April, 2012.

The Inn continues to be recognized as one of San Francisco’s leading hotels here and abroad by guests, travel media, critics and bloggers, and by leading travel guidebooks & journals.
