LG Sustainability Standard : Tested by CSA Group,

ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, N.J., Feb. 11, 2015 – LG Electronics’ high-performance double-oven range is, surprisingly, the first in the world to meet the requirements of the industry’s new Sustainability Standard for Household Cooking Appliances. This milestone, therefore, underscores the company’s unwavering commitment to innovation and environmentally-friendly practices. Furthermore, this standard, which is recognized as a benchmark for energy efficiency and sustainability, was developed collaboratively by the Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers (AHAM), CSA Group, and UL Environment. Consequently, this reflects a unified effort aimed at reducing the environmental impact of cooking appliances while, at the same time, maintaining high quality and performance standards. With this significant achievement, LG Electronics not only sets a new precedent in the appliance industry but also, importantly, promotes the adoption of sustainable technologies among consumers. This encourages a shift towards greener cooking methods that, ultimately, benefit both households and the planet.

LG Model LDG3036ST is the first gas range to meet the new Sustainability Standard for Household Cooking Appliances (AHAM 7004-2015/CSA SPE-7004-15/UL 7004-15). It sets a benchmark in the industry. This innovative appliance showcases LG’s commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility. According to CSA Group, they verified and issued the standard-compliance certificate after extensive testing. This fact highlights the rigorous evaluations that the gas range passed successfully. Moreover, LG received a certificate for its flagship double-oven electric range, model LDE3037ST. This model also demonstrated compliance with the 2015 cooking sustainability standard. Thus, LG solidifies its reputation as a leader in energy-efficient and eco-friendly appliances. Overall, these accolades emphasize LG’s dedication to high-performance cooking options. They prioritize sustainability and eco-friendliness in their products.

Lifecycle Approach

The full green approach of the cooking sustainability standard addresses environmental impacts in five key areas. These are materials, manufacturing and operations, energy consumption during use, innovation, and end-of-life management. The new CSA badge builds on a series of similar product sustainability standards. It is for use by consumers, retailers, governments, NGOs, and others to identify products designed with the environment in mind.

“Environmental sustainability has become as important to our customers as it has been to our company for a long time,” said T.J. Lee, Senior Vice President and head of Home Appliances for LG Electronics USA. “LG is proud to be first in the industry with a gas range to be verified to the new sustainability standard. Together with CSA Group, LG is leading the way in addressing various aspects of the product’s lifecycle.”

In addition to bearing the recognized CSA Group certification mark for compliance, the LG gas range will also include the CSA Group sustainability mark. This indicates to retailers, regulators, and consumers that a product has met the environmental performance requirements for product-specific sustainability. These requirements were set forth in the Sustainability Standard for Household Cooking Appliances.
