Porsche Taycan Production Starting Factory Opening in Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen Stuttgart.
Porsche Taycan Production starting after a construction period of less than 48 months.
So Porsche opened the new production facility. One for the Porsche Taycan. It’s their first all-electric sports car. All to be produced at its Zuffenhausen site.
As from Porsche:
The Taycan carries a legacy that is reflected by performance. The latest drive technology also ensures that its performance can be repeatedly reproduced. Can we say two permanent-magnet synchronous motors (PSMs).
Motors catapult the Taycan Turbo S.
I mean can you say with up to 560kW (750 HP) Overboost Power with Launch Control. I mean that’s from 0–60 mph in 2.6 seconds. With a standing start of 1.2g. So I mean it accelerates faster than the force of gravity. All for the first few yards, thereby making it faster than a skydiver in free fall.
The four-door sports saloon is a unique package. Thereby offering typical Porsche performance and connectivity with everyday usability. At the same time, highly advanced production methods.
Moreover the features of the Taycan are setting new standards. Especially in the fields of sustainability and digitalization.
Pure exterior design with Porsche DNA
With its clean, puristic design. Also the Taycan signals the beginning of a new era. At the same time, it retains the unmistakable Porsche design DNA.
From the front it looks particularly wide and flat with highly contoured wings. The silhouette is shaped by the sporty roofline. One that is sloping downward to the rear. The highly sculpted side sections are also characteristic.
The sleek cabin, the drawn-in rear C-pillar and the pronounced shoulders of the wings. Therefore resulting in a sharply emphasized rear. All typical of the brand. There are also innovative elements such as the glass-effect Porsche logo, which has been integrated into the light bar at the rear. With a Cd value from 0.22, the aerodynamically optimized basic shape. That’s making a significant contribution to low energy consumption and thus long range.
Porsche Taycan production of the first customer vehicles began as scheduled. All on 9 September 2019. Assembly took place in a “factory of the future.” One that’s flexible, networked and using 4.0 production technology.
It is a further step towards the “Zero Impact Factory.”
One as a result with no negative environmental impact. That’s production of the Porsche Taycan all Electric. It’s therefore a zero-emission powertrain. Located at the Zuffenhausen site will be CO₂-neutral.
Testing at Arctic Circle
As I’ve written before:
Porsche’s first purely electrically driven sports car, the Taycan. The Taycan completed its final test drives. All before it enters series production. In Scandinavia, just a few kilometers away from the Arctic Circle.
I mean it is proving its potential in terms of driving dynamics on snow and ice. At the same time, Porsche engineers are taking advantage of the summer in the Southern Hemisphere.
In South Africa, they conducted performance tests. That’s as well as final adjustments in terms of continuous performance and ability to replicate. In Dubai, Porsche’s are carrying out hot-climate endurance runs.
Therefore also testing battery charging under extreme conditions. The 30 countries across the globe in which these comprehensive tests being carried out have temperatures that range from minus 35 to plus 50 degree Celsius.
So the Taycan launched on the market at the end of 2019. So it’s covered about six million kilometers across the globe. They are happy and know the Taycan is a true Porsche.
Source: Porsche AG, Stuttgart/Geneva. The first all-electric sports car from Porsche is the Taycan. Well folks it is also enjoying significant attention worldwide.
It seems that the vehicle was presented to the public in September 2019.
However and regardless, there are more than 20,000 people around the world with serious interest. All in buying one of their own. Porsche confirmed that for the Geneva International Motor Show.
That is the number that has already registered to join a list of prospective buyers. In addition, registration also requires a down payment of €2,500 (in Europe).
Again Porsche Taycan was welcomed. Furthermore, the vehicle accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 3.5 seconds.
It will have a range of more than 500 kilometers as measured by the NEDC.
A total of 130 companies and suppliers were part of that team. One of the logistical masterpieces was coordinating the construction site traffic without impairing the significant regular flow at the plant.
including power for the 1,000 linear luminaire (better had been LED). Light that is also distributed throughout the construction sites. Four kilometers of new road were also built within the plant.
