SL Green Realty Completes One of the Nation’s Largest LED Lighting Retrofits with Seesmart
New York, NY – SL Green Realty Corp., New York City’s largest office landlord, has completed one of the biggest LED lighting retrofit projects in the United States. The initiative upgraded more than 16,000 fixtures across 21 Manhattan properties with energy-efficient LED lighting supplied by Seesmart Technologies.
By switching to LEDs, SL Green expects to reduce lighting energy use by over 55 percent. The retrofit will cut electricity consumption by nearly 3.9 million kilowatt-hours each year—the equivalent of removing more than 2,000 tons of CO₂ emissions annually.
Cost Savings and Environmental Benefits
The project is projected to save SL Green approximately $790,000 per year in electricity costs. Seesmart’s LED lighting systems are designed to use significantly less power while maintaining high-quality illumination suitable for office environments.
