AEROMEXICO Just Made the Friendly Skies A Lot Cleaner and Greener

Aeromexico, Mexico’s global airline, is proud to announce that the company has joined the Sustainable Aviation Fuel Users Group (SAFUG ), which had their first face-to-face meeting in Mexico City on March 31st.
Grupo Aeromexico is comprised of four subsidiaries: Aeromexico, Mexico’s largest transcontinental airline, Aeromexico Connect, Aeromexico Travel, its charter airline, and EMA, the Group’s aircraft maintenance company. Its fleet includes Boeing 777, 767, 737, and MD80 aircraft, next generation Embraer 145 and 190 airplanes.

ALTe Partners with Industry Giant Manheim: First Step to Create Gas-Guzzler Retrofit Industry by Felix Kramer at CalCars.org

Today, ALTe Powertrain Technologies, a Michigan startup created by electric vehicle experts (part of Tesla’s original technical team in Michigan), with a staff and board of seasoned auto industry veterans, is announcing an installer partner to convert fleet trucks to plug in. It’s Manheim, the world’s largest vehicle wholesaler, and the conversions will be available in multiple U.S. locations.
ALTe http://www.altellc.com may be the first company to demonstrate a realistic technical solution and a business case for the “Big Fix” strategy that CalCars, Andy Grove, and others have been promoting. Its Ford F-150 pickup truck becomes a series plug-in hybrid (like the Chevy Volt) — and for sales it’s aiming first at public and private fleet markets. Yesterday, ALTE brought its prototype to Sacramento for demos and drives, attracting a large audiences of legislators and agency officials, including Caltrans, the state’s Department of Transportation, which has a large fleet. Today it’s at Sand HIll Road in Silicon Valley. Following soon after today’s announcement will be news of the first customers — and, we hope, a US Department of Energy loan!

It always amazes me that in a country obsessed with cleanliness and germs, we in the United States still assume that a quick rinse under cold water is sufficient to clean our foods before eating. Think about it. Pesticides, fertilizers, dirt, road grit, molds, fungi, waxes – or worse! On your food! I believe that, like Australia, we in the US will soon make fruit and vegetable washes part of our daily routine.
Detergent residues on dishes have already been linked to specific health problems. I for one prefer to use time proven soap based technology to maintain my world. The human organism evolved to deal with the chemical combinations found in our natural world. For the past hundred years or so we have bombarded ourselves with new chemical combinations on our food, in our air, water and soil, and on our bodies. Why use questionable chemicals to clean off other questionable chemicals?
